BHCGA Board of Directors approves $677,500!

On Monday, April 15, 2024, the Board of Directors of the Black Hawk County Gaming Association (BHCGA) met to finalize awards for the FY24 Spring Grant Cycle. A total of eleven projects were approved for funding, totaling $677,500. Among the projects awarded were four capacity-building grants that range from website development, strategic planning, and new data systems.

Board President Alice Shirey said, “Introducing capacity-building to our grant categories was an exciting development for Black Hawk County Gaming Association. The Board’s initiative to add this type of grant not only underscores its belief in local organizations delivering vital community services but also its commitment to empower these organizations to become stronger pillars in the Cedar Valley.”

FY24 Annual Celebration

Thursday, September 26, 2024 - Isle Casino Waterloo - 5:00 p.m.

Join us for a fun evening of networking and celebration as we honor our FY24 grant recipients! The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with light appetizers and a cash bar, followed by a short program at 5:30. Connect with fellow community members and learn more about some exciting projects happening around the Cedar Valley.

Union Block Open House

To celebrate our new collaborative office space at the Union Block Building in downtown Waterloo, all four organizations hosted an open house and ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. We were thrilled by the incredible turnout and are delighted to unite under one roof to better serve the Cedar Valley. Together, we can achieve even more!

Union Block Organizations: Black Hawk County Gaming Association, Otto Schoitz Foundation, Waterloo Community Foundation, and the R.J. McElroy Trust.

FY24 Informational Session

Nearly 100 guests attended BHCGA's Grant Informational Session at the Isle Casino on Thursday, April 4th. Executive Director, Emily Hanson, shared Board insight on the new capacity-building grants and other helpful information to help applicants through the grant process.

FY23 BHCGA Annual Celebration

We celebrated our FY23 grant recipients with a short program and social hour at the Isle Casino Hotel on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Thank you to everyone who attended with a special thanks to the FY23 grant recipients who showcased their projects at the event!
